Gene Ontology (GO)
Gene ontology is a systematic approach to describing the function of a gene in a cell. A gene's ontology is composed of three terms; the gene's molecular function (what biochemistry it is performing), its biological process (what it is doing in the context of the cell), and its cellular component (where it is found in the cell).
